The objective of this research is to determine the level and dynamic of development of visual discrimination in children with moderate mental retardation. All of researches point out to the fact that in these children there is disharmony between immaturity of this function and chronological age. This type of disorders has important implications in quality of mastering academic skills, behavior and learning at all. The sample consists of 92 children with moderate mental retardation, of both sexes, aged 7 to 15. In diagnostic procedure Acadia test of developmental abilities was used, subtest number 3. The global results show that the half of children in the sample have sufficient level of visual discrimination according to standardized norm. It is also confirmed that in children with moderate mental retardation this ability has harmonized development after eleven.
