The growth and development of each person, include changes in both physiological as well as morphological sense. Information about the growth and development is obtained by measurements or testing of certain anthropometric characteristics, such as body height, body weight, limb length and the like. The aim of this study was to compare the anthropometric characteristics of children with cognitive and sensory disabilities and children with typical development. The research sample was formed by 151 students from six elementary schools in Belgrade (57 students with cognitive disabilities, 37 students with sensory disabilities and 57 students of typical population). Anthropometric characteristics were estimated on the basis of the following anthropometric variables: body height, body weight, the presence of body fat and length of limb. The results showed that there is a statistically significant difference, among subjects with cognitive disabilities and subjects with sensory disabilities, i...n the variables presence of fat (p = 0.04) and body mass index (p = 0.04). At the same time, among subjects with typical development and subjects with sensory disabilities statistically significant difference was found in the variable length of the upper limbs (p = 0.04), while comparing subjects with typical development and subjects with cognitive disabilities statistically significant difference was observed for the variable length of the upper extremities (p = 0.030), body height (p = 0.047) and the presence of fat (p = 0.001). On certain anthropometric characteristics it is possible to influenced, or they can be changed (such as body weight, body mass index, etc.). In this regard, it is necessary for children to engage in physical activity, to spend more time outdoors, to properly feed and the like, because these are only some of the factors that may contribute to reducing excess body weight and fat.
