Motorički razvoj dece s teškoćama u mentalnom razvoju predškolskog uzrasta
Abstract
By developing motor skills the child meets and explores his environment, gets the opportunity to become independent, and to relatively independently meet its needs. The development of gross motor abilities includes skills that require the coordination of large muscle groups of the body, such as arms, legs and torso, and the development of fine motor abilities is related with the coordination of small muscle groups, such as the movements of the hands, fingers and face.
The aim of this research was to determine the level of development of gross and fine motor abilities in pre-school children with intellectual disability, who reside with family or in an institution, as well as the level of acquisition of these abilities in relation to gender and calendar age. The sample consisted of 30 participants uniformed by type of accommodation, from zero to six years of age, with intellectual disability. For assessment, the Denver II development screening test was applied, and his subtests for the... evaluation of gross and fine motor functions.
The research found that participants with a higher level of gross motor development, have a higher level of fine motor development. This corelation in case of pre-school children with intellectual disability is high and statistically significant at the level of p˂0.001. Compared to the type of accommodation, there was no statistically significant difference in the level of gross and fine motor development among participants who grew up in family and the one who grew up in institution. Gender of the participants didn’t have significant impact of the results, as well. The age of the participants also didn’t have statistically significant impact on the gross and fine motor development level.
