How much does autism cost?
Koliko košta autizam?
Abstract
Autism is neurobehavioral disorder characterized by social-communication deficits and stereotype, repetitive behavior. The majority of persons with autism spectrum disorders requires professional support throughout the entire life. Since the rate of autism has increased exponentially, financial consequences of autism are extremely important for both, family and society in whole. Cost-effectiveness studies indicate that early intensive behavioral intervention is the treatment of choice, which could significantly reduce both direct and indirect costs related to autism. Up to now there are no comparative analyses of the economic effectiveness of different intervention models.
