Abstract
This paper deals with the problem of measuring, in the psychology of deaf and hard-of-hearing persons. This topic is approached through the historical prism, showing uprising of psychology of deaf and hard-of-hearing persons through the development of measurement in this area. It gives an overview of instruments (for measuring intelligence and personality traits) from the ones from very beginning of research, to those who are still in use today. The work discusses the methodological problems in psychology and psychology of deaf and hard-of-hearing persons (participation of examiners, giving socially desirable answers from participants). Particular importance has given to the specific problems of research of deaf and hard-of-hearing persons such as use of original instruments developed for normal-hearing persons, group testing, influence of verbal factors, lack of adequate standardization and so on... The work gave insight of measurements in the psychology of deaf and hard-of-hearing pe...rsons in our community. Discussion and conclusions on this issue take into account the fact that the psychology of deaf and hard-of-hearing persons is young scientific discipline, and that there is a need for systematic and patient development of its methodological apparatus.
