| sr |
dc.description.abstract | Dance and movement therapy is a profession based on the art of dance, which is extended by psychological theories that include the core of human processes. The American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) defines movement and dance therapy as the application of movement and dance in the creative process, with the goal of achieving emotional, social and physical integration of the individual. The aim of this paper is to review the available literature to determine the impact of movement and dance therapy on the various abilities of children with disabilities. It was found that in children with intellectual disabilities there is a significant improvement in motor performance and body image after participating in movement and dance therapy. It is believed that the application of creative arts such as dance and movement allows students to better understand the content they adopt and serves to modify behavior. A review of available and relevant literature was performed by searching the electronic databases of Google Scholar and the Consortium of Libraries of Serbia for Unified Procurement (KoBSON). The focus was on works that described the application of movement and dance therapy to the various abilities of children with developmental disabilities. The available literature suggests that movement and dance therapy can positively affect the abilities of children with different types of disabilities. The disadvantage is that there is not enough research focusing on children with disabilities. Also, most of the research covered a smaller number of participants. | sr |
