The COVID-19 pandemic caused significant changes in the environment in children of all ages around the world. The aim of this paper is to analyze the potential impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on language development in children through a review of research. The results of the research showed that the youngest children who went to kindergarten more frequently had a more developed receptive vocabulary. Research about the contribution of parental activity in the language development showed a statistically significant contribution of the mother activity, but not the father activity in children’s vocabulary development during the period of isolation due to the pandemic. On the other hand, the results of the assessment in older children showed that during the period of school closure due to the pandemic, students from the third to the seventh grade reduced their reading achievement by about 35% on average. The authors suggested that the reduction in reading achievement was unbalanced among students, where the best students showed the lowest rate of reduction in achievement on these tasks. Due to the uncertain course of the pandemic, one of the priority challenges is to identify and consider factors related to the pandemic, which can negatively affect the growth and children development.sr
