| sr |
dc.description.abstract | According to the report published by the Institute of Medicine (U.S), the rate of prematurely born children, therefore children born with riscs, has increased more than 30 percent in the last two decades. In Europe, 5-10% of children are born prematurely. Prospective and longitudinal study of this population shows that number of preterm children with neurodevelopmental disorders at later age is significantly greater than in the general population. This study observed two groups of children, children with cerebral palsy and children with intracranial hemorrhage of first and second degree. It has been concluded that in the last 40 years, there has been no significant changes in the incidence of cerebral palsy and that its prevention is not efficient enough, for now. The incidence in the world ranges from 0.5 to 6% (per thousand), on average from 2 to 3% per 1000 births, 2 to 3 children are born with cerebral palsy. Intracranial hemorrhage of first and second degree, often referred to as uncomplicated hemorrhage, rarely causes permanent motor and cognitive deficits, while according to some authors, 30% of these children manifest some neurodevelopmental disorders. This study included a prospective followup of speech and language development of 62 newborns up to the age of three. All of the children were patients of the Special Hospital for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Neurology in Belgrade. Half of the sample (31) consisted of infants who were diagnosed with intracranial hemorrhage of first and second degree I/II. These children came to our institution with established diagnosis (ultrasound), and they were referred for psychomotor development monitoring. The other half of the sample (31) were children born with highrisk, they were administered as cerebrally compromised, or children with a delay in psychomotor development, all of these children (31) were diagnosed with cerebral palsy until their third year... | en |
