The auditory system enables registering an auditory stimuli, as well as the adequate understanding and response to them. Previous research have shown that auditory processing difficulties are more common in children with an autism spectrum disorder than in children of a typical population. The aim of the research is to determine the quality of auditory processing in children with autism spectrum disorder, and in children with typical development in relation to age, gender and the attendance to preschool program. The sample consisted of 60 respondents of both gender. One group of respondents consisted of 30 children with autism spectrum disorder, and the other consisted of the same number of children with what is considered typical development. The sample included children in the age range of three to six years and 11 months old, who attended inclusive kindergarten groups. The subscale Auditory processing of Children’s sensory profile 2 was used for the assessment. The results showed the existence of a statistically significant difference in the quality of auditory processing in favor of respondents from the typical population. Respondents of the two groups did not achieve different scores in relation to gender, age or the preschool program attendance. The results that indicate the specificity of auditory processing in children with autism spectrum disorder should be considered during the implementation of kindergarten activities covered by the IEP 1.sr
