Success of pupils in mathematics teaching in lower grades of elementary school

Uspeh učenika u nastavi matematike u nižim razredima osnovne škole

Abstract
The goal of the research was to determine the level of children's acquisition of mathematics contents compared to the goals set in the curriculum. Seventy two pupils from 1st to 4th grade of the elementary school were included in the research. Obtained results confirm pupils have satisfactory mastered the contents envisaged by the curriculum. The field pupils showed the most success in was adding numbers. Fields in which they had less success were: set and elements of set (1st grade), comparing numbers (1st and 2nd grades), text problems with several operations (3rd and 4th classes). The main conclusion, imposing itself, is that with age, as tasks get harder regarding mathematics content, success of pupils decreases.
Cilj istraživanja je bio da se utvrdi u kojoj meri su učenici razredne nastave usvojili matematičke sadržaje u odnosu na zahteve postavljene u okviru nastavnog plana i programa. Ispitano je 72 učenika od 1. do 4. razreda osnovne škole. Dobijeni rezultati potvrđuju da su učenici u zadovoljavajućoj meri ovladali predviđenim nastavnim sadržajima. Oblast u kojoj su učenici pokazali najbolji uspeh je sabiranje brojeva. Oblasti u kojima su postigli slabiji uspeh su sledeće: skup i elemenat skupa (1. razred), upoređivanje brojeva (1. i 2. razred), tekstualni zadaci sa više računskih operacija (3. i 4. razred). Ono što se nameće kao glavni zaključak je da se sa uzrastom, što znači i većim zahtevima u pogledu matematičkih sadržaja, uspeh učenika smanjuje.
