Abstract
Rad prikazuje specifičnosti edukacije i rehabilitacije gluvo-slepih osoba. Gluvo-slepe osobe se međusobno značajno razlikuju u pogledu stepena oštećenja sluha i vida, vremena nastanka oštećenja, jezičkog razvoja, načina komunikacije, kao i stepena samostalnosti. Zbog velikih funkcionalnih razlika u okviru ove populacije, neophodno je prepoznati specifične potre- be svakog gluvo-slepog pojedinca na individualnom nivou. Gluvo-slepe je mogu- će klasifikovati u dve osnovne podgrupe: one koji su sluh i vid izgubili u periodu od rođenja do uzrasta od dve godine, i one koji su sluh i vid izgubili u kasnijim godinama života. Udruženo oštećenje sluha i vida se javlja kod približno 1:100000 osoba.
This paper examines the characteristics of education and rehabilitation of the deaf-blind persons. People who are deaf-blind differ in their degree of vision and hearing loss and in the age of onset of deaf-blindness, language development, communication mode, and level of independence. With this functional diversity among persons who are deaf-blind, it is important to identify the needs of this population at the individual level. People who are deaf blind can be classified into at least two groups: those who experienced the onset of both hearing and visual impairment from birth to age 2, and those whose onset was later in life. Hearing and visual impairments co-occur in approximately 1 in 100,000 persons.
