Attitude of students of Faculty of special education and rehabilitation towards Mathematics

Abstract
The positive attitude of teachers towards mathematics, influences the higher quality of the teaching process as well as inducing a positive student attitude. The main goal of the research is to determine attitudes towards mathematics among FASPER students. In the research, 43 students of the 4th year (90.7% female and 9.3% male) and 38 students of 3rd year of college (94.7% female and 5.3% male) have participated. The Attitudes towards Mathematics Inventory (ATMI) is used to assess the four dimensions of attitude towards mathematics (Self-confidence, Evaluation, Enjoyment, Motivation). The obtained data show that FASPER students have the most positive attitudes towards dimension Evaluation (AS=42.86; SD=7.63), followed by Self-confidence (AS=34.56; SD=9.34), somewhat lower mean values were obtained in assessing dimension Enjoymentin Mathematics (AS=21.66; SD=4.37). The lowest median achievements are obtained while assessing dimension Motivation (AS=13.37; SD=5.54). The results indicate... that there are differences in the attitude of Selfconfidence between the 3rdand 4thyear students. Students of the final year show more self-confidence when it comes to mathematics, compared to students of the 3rdyear (p=0.000). Differences in attitudes, Evaluation (p=0.512), Enjoyment (p=0.330) and Motivation (p=0.122) among subjects of different year of study, were not detected.

Pozitivan stav nastavnika prema matematici utiče na kvalitetnije realizovanje nastavnog procesa kao i na formiranje pozitivnog stava kod učenika. Cilj istraživanja je utvrđivanje stavova prema Matematici kod studenata Fakulteta za specijalnu edukaciju i rehabilitaciju, kao i evaluacija eventualnih promena u stavovima studenata nakon dvogodišnje edukacije u oblasti matematike. U istraživanju je učestvovalo 43 studenata IV godine (90,7% ženskog i 9,3% muškog pola) i 38 ispitanika III godine (94,7% ispitanika ženskog i 5,3% muškog pola). Primenjen je Upitnik za ispitivanje stavova prema matematici (Attitudes Toward Mathematics Inventory - ATMI) kojim se procenjuju četiri dimenzije stava prema matematici (Samopouzdanje, Vrednovanje, Uživanje, Motivacija). Dobijeni podaci pokazuju da studenti Fakulteta za specijalnu edukaciju i rehabilitaciju imaju najpozitivnije stavove prema dimenziji Vrednost (AS=42,86; SD=7,63), zatim Samopouzdanje (AS=34,56; SD=9,34), nešto niže srednje vrednosti dobij...ene su pri proceni dimenzije Uživanje u matematici (AS=21,66; SD=4,37). Najniža srednja postignuća dobijena su pri proceni dimenzije Motivacija (AS=13,37; SD=5,54). Rezultati ukazuju na postojanje razlika u stavu Samopouzdanje između ispitanika III i IV godine studija. Studenti završne godine pokazuju više samopouzdanja kada je u pitanju Matematika u odnosu na studente III godine (p=0,000). Razlike u stavovima Vrednost (p=0,512), Uživanje (p=0,330) i Motivacija (p=0,122) između ispitanika različitih godina studija, nisu utvrđene.
