Sensory and sensorimotor integration in younger school age children
Senzorna i senzomotorička integracija kod dece mlađeg školskog uzrasta
Abstract
The possibility of integration of information is essential for obtaining a complete experience of phenomena and activities that surround us. The research was conducted with the aim to determine the dynamics of development, eventual deviation in the development and gender specifities in the area of sensory and sensorimotor integration in younger school-age children. The sample included 300 students of typical intellectual development from central area of Belgrade, of both sexes, and aged 8-11. For examining sensory and sensorimotor integration we used the subtests Audiovisual Association and Visual-motor Coordination Test and for the possibility of sequence the Acadia test for developmental capabilities. According to the obtained results, the achievements in sensory integration were higher than the achievements on the tasks for testing visual-motor integration. Statistically significant differences were obtained between the respondents of the second, third and fourth grades in the area ...of sensory and sensorimo-tor integration (p lt 0.000). Sensorimotor integration and gender showed no statistically significant relation. The achievements of girls in the area of visual-motor coordination were significantly higher than those of boys (p=0.009). The results of the majority of the respondents on the subtests Audiovisual Association (88.4%) and Visual-motor Coordination (83.3%) are in accord with relevant age norms.
Nije utvrđena statistički značajna povezanost i...zmeđu senzorne integracije i pola (p=0.117).
