The aim of this literature review is to summarize contemporary scientific knowledge about the prevalence of externalized and internalized problems in children and adolescents with hearing impairment, and related factors. The paper systematically presents data from different countries that consistently show that the prevalence of the problem is significantly higher in children and adolescents with hearing impairment compared to the normative population. The following is an overview of the results of empirical research on the relationship between externalized and internalized problems with sociodemographic factors, factors related to hearing impairment, and factors related to the education and rehabilitation of children and adolescents with hearing impairment. The authors of previous studies agree that speech and language skills and the presence of other developmental disabilities play a significant role in the genesis of problems in children and adolescents with hearing impairment, while the findings on the impact of other factors are less clear.sr
