dc.description.abstractacceptance of high school students with visual impairments by their typical development peers and peers with the same disability gives an initial insight into the quality of peer relationships in school. The aim of the study was to identify how the acceptance by the typical development peers and peers with visual impairments in relation to sex is being self-assessed by the high school students with visual impairments. The sample included 43 students with visual impairments who are attending special classes in the regular school. Data were collected through a specially designed questionnaire. Respondents evaluated the acceptance by the peers on a five-point Likert-type scale. The statement on satisfaction by participating in extracurricular activities was assessed on a three-point Likert scale. The study results showed statistically significant differences in self-assessment on the students acceptance by the typical development peers. Boys with visual impairments considered to be better accepted by their typical developed peers, than the girls with visual impairments. Differences in self-assessment of students acceptance by the peers with the same disability, have not been established. The differences in satisfaction of participating in extracurricular activities with typical development peers, as well as with the peers with visual impairment, were not determined. The percentage of friendly relationships in male students was higher than that of female students, but statistically significant differences were not determined.
