dc.description.abstractAccording to findings from the literature, a significant part of the population of children with developmental disabilities is affected by dysfunction of sensory integration. Moreover, various developmental disorders are accompanied by specific patterns of altered sensory responses. Tis study aimed to determine the specificity of the sensory profile of blind adolescents. Tis cross-sectional study included a convenience sample of 18 blind participants, aged between 14 and 20 years (M = 17.1; SD = 1.63), average intellectual abilities, without impairment of other sensory modalities and associated psychiatric disorders. The Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile (Brown & Dunn, 2002) was used to determine the sensory status of participants. The sensory profile of the blind participants did not deviate significantly from the profile based on normative values when it comes to quadrants. However, sensory sensitivity is emphasized to some extent. Tis finding indicates a low threshold of reacting to stimuli, resulting in behaviour that neutralizes the threshold. Concerning the types of sensory modalities, the lowest level of dysfunction was recorded in the processing of tactile stimuli, followed by dificulties related to activity and locomotion, and problems with the processing of auditory stimuli. Although there is a limit to these sensory modalities, they can also be considered as strengths of the sensory profile of blind people. The possible importance of these findings is in the planning and implementation of interventions in blind persons that take into consideration the sensory specifics of this population. At the same time, it is necessary to modify the requirements and tasks, but also to adapt the environment following the sensory needs of blind persons.en
dc.description.abstractNalazi iz literature govore da je značajan deo populacije dece sa smetnjama u razvoju pogođen disfunkcijom senzorne integracije i da su različite razvojne smetnje praćene specifčnim obrascimaizmenjenih senzornih odgovora. Cilj ovog rada bio je utvrđivanje specifčnosti senzornog profla slepih adolescenata.Istraživanje je realizovano na prigodnom uzorku od 18 slepih ispitanika, uzrasta između 14 i 20 godina (M = 17,1; SD = 1,63), prosečnih intelektualnih sposobnosti, bez oštećenja drugih senzornih modaliteta i bez pridruženih psihijatrijskih poremećaja. Za utvrđivanje senzornog statusa ispitanika korišćen je Senzorni profl adolescenata i odraslih (Te Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profle; Brown & Dunn, 2002). Pokazalo se da senzorni profl slepih ispitanika ne odstupa znatno od profla zasnovanog na normativnim vrednostima, kada je reč o kvadrantima. Ipak, u izvesnoj meri je naglašena senzorna osetljivost koja ukazuje na nizak prag reagovanja na stimuluse što rezultuje ponašanjem koje neutrališe prag.U odnosu na vrste senzornih modaliteta, najniži nivo disfunkcija je zabeležen pri obradi taktilnih stimulusa, a zatim slede teškoće vezane za aktivitet i lokomociju, te problemi obrade auditivnih stimulusa. Ipak, iako postoji limitiranost ovih senzornih modaliteta, oni se mogu smatrati i jačim stranama senzornog profla slepih osoba. Ovi nalazi mogu biti od značaja za planiranje i realizaciju intervencija kod slepih osoba koje uvažavaju senzorne specifčnosti ove populacije ikoje uključuju, kako modifkaciju zahteva i zadataka, tako i adaptaciju okruženja u skladu sa senzornim potrebama slepih.sr
