AB  - The aim of this research was to examine the levels of burnout syndrome dimensions in special education teachers and correlations with some socio-demographic characteristics, job characteristics, and levels of assertiveness. The research included 225 special education teachers from Serbia (82% were women, 18% were men, with the average age of 42.51 +/- 9.23 years). Research instruments included Maslach Burnout Inventory, Rathus Assertiveness Schedule, and a socio-demographic questionnaire. There were differences in all burnout dimensions in relation to types of students' special needs. Higher levels of burnout symptoms were observed in teachers working with children with motor skill disorders. The assertiveness scores had a significant negative correlation with emotional exhaustion and depersonalisation, and a positive correlation with a lack of accomplishment. The results obtained may help in the planning of the adequate preventative measures for improving the mental health of those professionals.

AB  - Introduction. Numerous global studies as well as the studies from Serbia have indicateds the individuals professionally engaged in providing assistance to other people and who belong to the so-called "helping professions" (health workers, psychologists, pedagogists, social workers, teachers, etc.) as the professionals at a high risk for developing various psychophysical stress reactions and symptoms of a burnout syndrome. The burnout syndrome is viewed nowadays both as a social and a professional problem, and not only as a manifestation of the psychological state of an individual. Objective. The aim of this paper is to determine levels of the burnout syndrome in special education teachers working in schools for children with developmental disorders, as well as to determine a correlation between that phenomenon and socio-demographic aspects. Method. This cross-sectional study was conducted during the school year 2017/18. on a suitable sample and included 225 special education teachers from the Republic of Serbia. As research instruments, the Work-related Stress Inventory and a Questionnaire for collecting socio-demographic data were used. Results. A cross-sectional analysis of the socio-demographic aspects and the burnout syndrome has pointed to a statistically significant difference between the type of the students`disability (χ2 = 57.916; p  lt 0.01) and the total length of the teachers`service (F (4) = 3.067, p = .017). Approximatelly one half of the respondents who work with students with motor skill disorders, and nearly one third of the respondents working with hearing impaired children possess the highest levels of burnout, while a logistic regression analysis has shown that professionals working in these fields have a 3.56-fold higher likelihood of manifesting high levels of burnout . Conclusion. Burnout syndrome is more pronounced in special education teachers who have been burning out due to their lengthy work engagement. And among them, at greater risk are those who work with children with motor skill disorders and hearing impairments. One should not forget one`s personal life that may affect the burnout. Living conditions, and above all an unsolved housing status therefore, show a closer relation with burning out.
AB  - Uvod. Brojna istraživanja u svetu i kod nas su pokazala da su osobe koje se profesionalno bave pružanjem pomoći drugim ljudima i koje pripadaju tzv. "pomagačkim profesijama" (zdravstveni radnici, psiholozi, pedagozi, socijalni radnici, nastavnici itd.) pod visokim rizikom za razvijanje različitih psihofizičkih stresnih reakcija i simptoma sindroma izgaranja. Sindrom izgaranja se danas posmatra kao društveni i profesionalni problem, a ne samo kao odraz psihološkog stanja pojedinca. Cilj rada. Cilj rada je utvrđivanje izraženosti nivoa sindroma izgaranja kod defektologa zaposlenih u školama za decu sa smetnjama u razvoju, kao i utvrđivanje povezanosti ove pojave sa sociodemografskim karakteristikama. Metod. Ova studija preseka sprovedena je tokom školske 2017/18. godine, na prigodnom uzorku i obuhvatila je 225 defektologa sa teritorije Republike Srbije. Kao instrumenti istraživanja korišćeni su Inventar izgaranja na radu i lista za prikupljanje sociodemografskih podataka. Rezultati. Analiza ukrštanja sociodemografskih obeležja i sindroma izgaranja pokazala je da postoji statistički značajna razlika u odnosu na tip smetnji učenika kojima defektolozi realizuju nastavu (χ2 = 57.916; p  lt  0.01) i ukupan radni staž (F(4) = 3.067, p = .017). Oko polovine ispitanika koji realizuju nastavu deci sa motoričkim smetnjama i skoro trećina ispitanika koji rade sa decom sa slušnim smetnjama imaju najviše nivoe izgaranja, dok je regresiona analiza pokazala da osobe koje rade u ovim oblastima imaju 3,56 puta veću verovatnoću da manifestuju viši nivo izgaranja. Zaključak. Sindrom izgaranja je izraženiji kod defektologa kod kojih je usled dugotrajnog rada došlo do sagorevanja, a među njima su pod većim rizikom oni koji rade sa decom sa motoričkim i slušnim smetnjama. Ne treba zanemariti ni privatnu sferu života, koja utiče na izgaranje, pa tako uslovi života, pre svega nerešeni stambeni problem pokazuju veću povezanost sa izgaranjem.

Differences in temperament and character dimensions in adolescents with various conduct disorders

AB  - Background/Aim. Adolescence is characterized both by a large developmental potential and by an increased risk for emergence of different forms of psychopathology. International classifications of mental disorders recognize the psychopathology of adolescence at the age of 15-18 through the categories of conduct disorders and some forms of addiction: chemical and non-chemical. The aim of this research was to analyse the personality structure among four groups of adolescents manifesting different types of conduct disorder based on Cloninger's Psychobiological theory of personality. Methods. The research sample consisted of 140 respondents at the age of 16-18, divided into five groups: 30 respondents manifesting socialized conduct disorder, 20 adolescents in conflict with the law, 30 respondents manifesting abuse of psychoactive substances, 30 respondents with the problem of the Internet addiction and 30 from general population. The Belgrade Adolescent Personality Inventory (BAPI) questionnaire was used for the purpose of assessment of personality. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), followed by univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to examine differences between the given groups of adolescents. Results. The results of MANOVA show differences in the personality structure among the groups, both in the dimensions of temperament, F (20,418.84) = 2.71, p  lt  0.001, Wilks's lambda 0.67, and in the dimensions of character, F (12,344.24) = 3.27,p  lt  0.001, Wilks's lambda is 0.75. Socialized conduct disorder is characterized by low self-directedness and average cooperativeness. Adolescents in conflict with the law have the lowest persistence, together with low self-directedness and cooperativeness. Adolescents abusing psychoactive substances have low harm avoidance and self-transcendence. Adolescents with Internet addiction are characterized by high novelty seeking (impulsivity and curiosity), low self-directedness and the lowest cooperativeness. Conclusion. The results show that the dimensions of personality can play an important role in etiopathogenesis of various disorders in adolescents.
AB  - Uvod/Cilj. Adolescenciju karakteriše veliki razvojni potencijal, ali i pojačani rizik od formiranja različitih vidova psihopatologije. Psihopatologiju adolescencije uzrasta od 15 do 18 godina, međunarodne klasifikacije mentalnih poremećaja prepoznaju kroz kategorije poremećaja ponašanja i neke vidove bolesti zavisnosti: hemijskih i nehemijskih. Cilj istraživanja bio je da se na osnovu Klonindžerove psihobiološke teorije ličnosti analizira struktura ličnosti kod četiri grupe adolescenata koji manifestuju različite oblike poremećaja ponašanja. Metode. The characteristics of internet addiction adolescents and their families

AB  - The goal of the study was to identify specific personality characteristics of adolescents who have a problem with 'internet addiction', as well as the characteristics of their parents' personalities and of thefunctioning of their families. The sample consisted of 60 adolescents of both genders, agedbetween 15 and18. There were 30'internet addicts' belonging to the clinical group and 30 participants from the general population as the control group. Also, 120 parentswere examined; there were 30 parent couples of eachof the two groups of adolescents. The following measures were used in the research: Young's Internet Addiction Test -IAT, the Belgrade Adolescent Personality Inventory - BAPI, the Temperament and Character Inventory-Revisited -TCI-R (for the assessment of parental personality) and the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale -FACES IV.The results indicate that adolescents with internet addiction difficulties exhibit a high degree of impulsiveness, low persistence, and immaturity in the personality domains which regulate responsible, goal-directed and co-operative behaviour. The fathers of adolescents from the clinical group were highly ambitious and less available to their children, while their mothers were more impulsive and prone to change versus continuity, which means that they were also less accessible to their children, albeit in a different way than the fathers. All dimensions associated with the positive aspects of family functioning, such as Cohesiveness, Flexibility, Communication and Satisfaction were lower in the clinical group, while the dimension of Chaotic relations was higher. The results have shownthat the parents of adolescents from the clinical group have formed a specific kindof disengaged and distant parenting style that has resultedin avoiding behaviours of adolescents and their withdrawal into the 'virtual world'. These findings could have a significant role in understanding the originsof internet addiction, planning prevention programs and defining guidelines for effective therapeutic treatment.
AB  - Istraživanje se bavi utvrđivanjem specifičnih dimenzija ličnosti adolescenata 'internet-zavisnika', ličnosti njihovih roditelja i karakteristika porodičnog funkcionisanja s ciljem boljeg razumevanja faktora rizika za razvojovog poremećaja. Uzorak je činilo 60 adolescenata oba pola, uzrasta od 15 do 18 godina, od toga 30 iz kliničke grupe 'internet- zavisnika' i 30 ispitanika kontrolne grupe iz opšte populacije, kao i 120 roditelja, odnosno po 30 parova roditelja obe grupe adolescenata. U istraživanju su primenjeni upitnici za procenu zavisnosti od interneta (Young's Internet Adiction Test - IAT), za procenu ličnosti adolescenata (Belgrade Adolescent Personality Inventory - BAPI), ličnosti roditelja (Temperament and Character Inventory-Revisited - TCI-R) i procenu porodičnog funkcionisanja (Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale - FACES IV). Rezultati ukazuju na to da adolescente s problemom zavisnosti od interneta karakteriše visok stepen impulsivnosti i niska istrajnost, kao i nezreli aspekti karaktera koji regulišu odgovorno, ka cilju usmereno i kooperativno ponašanje. Očeviispitanika kliničke grupe imaju značajno više skorove na dimenziji Perzistencije, a majke na dimenziji Potrage za novinama, dok oba roditelja imaju povišene skorove na Self-transcendenciji, što potencijalno ukazuje na to da su manje dostupnisvojoj deci. Sve dimenzije koje se odnose na pozitivne aspekte porodičnog funkcionisanja kliničke grupe niske su prema proceni oba roditelja, dok je negativna dimenzija porodičnog funkcionisanja Haotičnost procenjena kao visoko izražena kod oba roditelja, a Neuključenost samo kod očeva. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju na to da roditelji ispitanika kliničke grupe formiraju specifičan oblik dezangažovanog i distanciranog roditeljskog stila, koji rezultira izbegavajućim ponašanjem adolescenata i njihovim povlačenjem u 'virtuelni svet'. Takvi nalazi mogu imati značajnu ulogu u razumevanju nastanka zavisnosti od interneta, u koncipiranju preventivnih programa i definisanju smernica za efikasniji terapijski tretman.

AB  - Zavisnost od interneta predstavlja psihički poremećаj koji se mаnifestuje
opsesivnom željom za prekomernim provođenjem vremena nа internetu,
što remeti uobičajeno funkcionisanje. Uvažavajući značaj preventivnog reagovanja
na opisani problem kod adolescenata, postavljeno je istraživanje
sa ciljem analize dimenzija porodičnog funkcionisanja, ličnosti roditelja i
ličnosti adolescenata, kao potencijalnih faktora rizika nastanka i razvijanja
zavisnosti od interneta.
Uzorak istrazivanja činilo je 60 adolescenata oba pola, prosečne starosti
od 17 godina (od kojih je 30 imalo problem zavisnosti od interneta, dok je 30
činilo kontrolnu grupu) i njihovi roditelji (120 odraslih). Prisustvo poremećaja
upotrebe interneta kod adolescenata utvrđeno je testom IAT, dimenzije
porodičnog funkcionisanja procenjene su upitnikom FACES IV, ličnost roditelja
upitnikom ТCI-R i ličnosti adolescenata upitnikom BAPI. Rezultati
procene porodičnog funkcionisanja ukazuju na prisustvo nezainteresovanog
i odbacujućeg roditeljskog stila oca i nezainteresovanog roditeljskog stila
majke. Struktura ličnosti očeva ukazuje na njihovu nedostupnost, dok
struktura licnosti majke statistički nije značajna za nastanak poremećaja.
U strukturi ličnosti adolescenata ističu se visoko izražena temperamentna
dimenzija Potraga za novinama i nisko izražene karakterne dimenzije
Samousmerenosti i Kooperativnosti, koje ukazuju na nezrelost i probleme
adekvatnog socijalnog funkcionisanja.
AB  - The problem of Internet Addiction, represents a psychological disorder which
is manifested as obsessive urge to spend time on the Internet, which deviates usual
functioning. Considering the importance of prevention reaction to problem of the Internet
Addiction in adolescent population, a research has been set up to analyze dimensions
of family adaptability, personalities of parents and adolescents as potential factors that
increase the probability for occurrence and development of Internet Addiction. The
sample consists of 60 female and male adolescents, aged 17 (half of them had Internet
Addiction problems and half of them were the control group) and their parents (120 of
them). Presence of Internet Use Disorder is established with IAT test, dimensions of
family adaptability are assessed through FACES IV, personality of parents are evaluated
with TCI-R questionnaire, while the questionnaire BAPI served to assess personality
of adolescents.Results of family functioning assessment show that there is a presence
of uninterested and rejection parental style in fathers` and uninterested parental style
in mothers`. Fathers` personality structure implicates on their unavailability, while the
personality structure in mothers is not statistically significant for disorder initiation. In
adolescents, dimension related to temper such as Novelty Seeking, especially Impulsivity
and Explorative Curiosity subscales, and low level of character dimensions such as
Cooperativeness and Self-directedness, implicates to immaturity and problems with
adequate social functioning.
