AB - Background/Aim. Studies that investigated the presence of soft neurological signs in terms of neuromotor immaturity and impact on the ability of reading, writing and calculation are rare. At school age, cognitive development in children of the typical population is monitored over, while much less was focused on motor development. This is one of the important reasons for conducting this research. The aim of this study is to determine whether neuromotor immaturity of children poses a risk for the adoption of the basic academic skills in school children. Most authors investigated the presence of dysgraphia, dyslexia and dyscalculia in clinically diagnosed conditions. Methods. The data were obtained by testing. To assess neuromotor maturity, The Developmental Screening Test was used. The quality of handwriting was evaluated according to the criteria proposed by Simner and Eidlitz. Quality of reading skills is assessed by the Three-dimensional Reading Test. Evaluation of the presence of difficulties in numeracy was performed by a series of adapted tasks, taken from the Romanian Screening Instrument for Dyscalculia. Results. The sample was divided into two groups of pupils according to the results. The groups consisted of students with and without the presence of neuromotor immaturity. There was a significantly higher prevalence of students with difficulties in reading, writing and numeracy in the group of neuromotor immature students. Conclusion. The results clearly indicated that neuromotor immaturity of children represents a risk to the adoption of the basic academic skills in children in school age. We believe that the school age is very important time to monitor motor development of a child to the same extent as the cognitive development. In this way, we would have the opportunity to intervene on time and reduce a possibility of school failure. Wider studies in this area are urgently needed.

AB - Background/Purpose: Prevalence of behavior problems in school children ranging from 8% to 35%. The causes of behavioral problems are often attributed to socio-cultural factors and interpersonal relationships and not to biological factors like neuromotor condition. Neuromotor condition often stay undetected in population of Serbian school children, also relationship between neuromotor condition and behavior problems are not studied. The aim of the research is to verify whether atypical neuromotor condition is important for occurrence of behavior problems. Participants included 256 elementary students from second-, third-, and fourth-grade classrooms. Method: Using the Developmental Screening Test (DST), the children's neuromotor condition was assessed. Behavioral problems were detected using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) for teachers. Results: Statistical analysis has shown that behavior problems were more common in participants from the group of atypical neuromotor condition (12 participants or 28.57%) in contrast to the group of those with typical neuromotor condition (24 participants or 11.22%). The degree of behavior problems was higher in those children whose degree of neuromotor problems was higher. There was a statistically significant difference at the p lt 0.05 degree in SDQ scores for the groups: F (2.253) = 8.414, p=0.001. Conclusion: We can conclude that atypical neuromotor condition is important for occurrence and grade of behavior problems in children.

AB - Background/Aim. There are almost no studies on apraxia in people with multiple sclerosis. Although the white matter is damaged in MS, it is not the only location in which the pathological changes are present. Demyelinated lesions in the cortex have recently been recognized as important components of multiple sclerosis pathology. The aim of this study was to determine whether apraxia is present among people with MS, and the importance of demographic characteristics and impairment of functional systems at conceptualization and execution of movements. Methods. The experimental group consisted of 30 patients, mean age 51.34 ± 7.70 years. The patients in the experimental group were diagnosed with MS according to the McDonald criteria. The control group consisted of 30 healthy subjects, mean age 50.30 ± 10.47 years. For research purposes, we used the following instruments: Questionnaire for Collecting Demographic Data, Kurtzke Functional Systems Scores, Waterloo-Sunnybrook Apraxia Battery (WatAB). Execution of motion tasks that are a part of the WatAB were incorporated in the System for the Observation and Analysis of Motor Behavior. Results. Our study showed that limb apraxia was common in people with MS. Apraxia was present during pantomime in 26.70% of the patients, and during the imitation of movements in 44.80% of the patients. Gender, age, education level, duration of disease and a form of MS did not determine the quality of conceptualization and execution of movements. The time elapsed from the last exacerbation was a determinant of quality of executed movements. Impairments of functional systems predicted impairments of movement execution. The expanded disability scale score correlated with the severity of apraxia. Conclusion. Our study confirm the presence of apraxia in MS. It is necessary to carry out further studies using functional magnetic resonance imaging, as well as the conduct longitudinal studies to determine the precise structure of motor behavior in people with MS.

Participation of people with MS in social
activities is insufficiently researched area in special education. Finding the determinants
of social participation of persons with MS is the first step to create different forms of
intervention.
The aim of the research was to find the determinants of social participation among
demographic characteristics of persons with MS.
Respondents were surveyed. Data were obtained by using Demographic questionnaire
and Scale of social participation.
The results of this study showed that people with MS have a moderate restriction of
social participation. We found that age, monthly income, employment status, and living
conditions are determinants of social participation.
When creating various social interventions special attention should be paid to the
determinants of social participation of persons with MS.

AB - The aim of this paper is to describe the emergence of contemporary models of the voluntary motor action. This paper describes the best known models, and preservation assessment in conceptual-production system of voluntary motor action. Paper is a review of available literature in the field of apraxia. Reviewing the literature we have found that the originator of modeling of conceptual-production system of voluntary motor action is Hugo Liepmann, that the dominant models of this system is Hailman's and Roy's models, and assessment instruments which are well known are Florida Apraxia Battery and Waterloo Apraxia Battery. The impression is made that, for the future voluntary motor actions studies, it is needed to integrate comprehensive knowledge, derived from clinical studies, testing researches and improvement of conceptual-production systems models, movement researches in functional, practical and social context.

AB - The new Law on Social Protection which Parliament of Serbia adopted in March 2011 prescribes for setting up of support services for independent living, including personal assistance, supported housing and provision of training for independent living for persons with disabilities in their respective communities by the local authorities. The authors analysed documents of international law, national legislation and examples of good practices in the field of support services in Serbia: Personal assistant service organized by Center for Independent Living of Serbia, supported housing organized by Association for Promotion of Inclusion in Serbia and day-care centers. Analysis shows that users of the abovementioned Services were satisfied with those services and maintained that such programs should become part of the system of social security of Serbia.

AB - Introduction. Constructive praxis represents a higher cognitive function and includes any activity in which the elements are assembled and organized to form a unit and implies the ability of good spatial perception of the whole and the parts. The ability of constructive praxis is necessary to cope with the educational process. Objective. The aim of this study is to determine the constructive abilities of children with hearing impairment of school age, through constructive praxis assessment and comparison of achievement of these children compared to control group. Method. The study included 46 schoolchildren aged 11 to 15 years, divided into experimental and control group. E group consisted of 22 subjects with impaired hearing, and the K group of 24 normal hearing subjects from the population of school children. Paper and pencil drawing task from the MSE battery was used for abilities assessment. Results. The results show that, contrary to our assumption based on data from the literature, there is a difference in the constructive capabilities between the examined groups in favor of the control group, where the difference is statistically significant in one of the three tasks. Also, it appears that with normal hearing and children with hearing impairments, constructive abilities positively correlated with the school grade, and there is no connection between the constructive abilities and school success. Conclusion. In further research is necessary to acknowledge and take into account the impact of model changes, then the influence of the type and structure of constructive tasks, and neuropsychological analysis, which can help us differentiate architecture of cognition deficits that interfere with the constructive aspects of the task.
