AB - Introduction. Regular follow-up and support of people with multiple sclerosis in finding and keeping employment may enable them to stay employed longer and have better quality of work life, financial security, and a higher degree of social participation. The objective of this study was to determine the work status and factors that may affect work engagement of people with multiple sclerosis. Material and Methods. The study was conducted in the territory of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, and included 108 subjects with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, aged 18 - 65 years, using the expanded disability status scale, 0 - 5.5. The data were collected using a General questionnaire and the multiple sclerosis work difficulties questionnaire. Results. Out of 108 subjects, only 37 were employed or had been retired for less than three years, which were the criteria for filling out the multiple sclerosis work difficulties questionnaire (in Serbian). Our results showed that subjects perceived cognitive difficulties and movement/mobility difficulties as the main factors affecting their work performance. Conclusion. The analysis of environmental factors and factors affecting work engagement of people with multiple sclerosis showed that other factors affected their work more than their personal preferences or the disease itself.
Materijal i metode. Podaci su prikupljeni Opštim upitnikom i The Multiple Sclerosis Work Difficulties Questionnaire - MSWDQ koji je preveden i prilagođen za potrebe srpskog govorno-jezičkog područja. Rezultati.

AB - Multiple sclerosis is a chronic progressive disease which is often diagnosed during
a professionally active part of life. The course of disease is unpredictable and there may
pass many years before a person with multiple sclerosis experiences significant disability.
In time, worsening of the symptoms makes the person change his or her job or stop
working altogether.
The aim of the study was to determine how people with multiple sclerosis perceive
difficulty of their work. The study included 108 subjects with multiple sclerosis, men and
women aged 18-65 years, and was conducted in September and October 2013 in Novi Sad,
in a multiple sclerosis association. The Multiple Sclerosis Work Difficulties Questionnaire
– MSWDQ (Honan et al., 2011) was used with the author’s permission. The questionnaire
consists of 12 subscales with items describing problems which people with MS may face
at work (cognitive difficulties, mobility problems, fatigue, pain etc.). Statistical analysis
was performed using the SPSS software; descriptive statistical methods (arithmetic
mean, median, range, standard deviation) and Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk
tests were used.
The results showed statistical significance (p<0,05) for all the subscales, except
Worry about Financial Security. Cognitive and mobility problems were perceived as the
main difficulties in performing work tasks.

AB - Development of a child and family system is adversely affected likewise by establishment of too distant a relation with the retarded child which is undergoing the developing phase in case this category of children is placed in residential institutions. Deinstitutionalization and dehospitalization present models of operationalization of the principle of normalization, individualization and integration which encourages building of lasting interpersonal relations by making it possible to live in a family (biological of foster one alike). Is that realistic when we have in mind the category of multiple retarded users and to what extent? The aim of this study is to examine the characteristics of the family system of families with multiply retarded children in residential conditions. A specially designed questionnaire was made for purpose of analyzing description of families with one retarded child or more retarded children. The study included 34 families from the territory of the Republic of Serbia which have child/children placed in the Home for retarded children and juveniles in Veternik. Through the analysis of the data obtained and the analysis of professional and scientific articles we obtain results indicating the importance of awareness of family systems of multiple retarded children. That in turn reveals what directions to take in further research work directed primarily to viewing of capacities of families but also finding of ways to improve the functioning of such families in the process of transformation of the social protection system.
