AB - Paralinguistic comprehension and production of emotions in communication include the skills of recognizing and interpreting emotional states with the help of facial expressions, prosody and intonation. In the relevant scientific literature, the skills of paralinguistic comprehension and production of emotions in communication are related primarily to receptive language abilities, although some authors found also their correlations with intellectual abilities and acoustic features of the voice. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate which of the mentioned variables (receptive language ability, acoustic features of voice, intellectual ability, social-demographic), presents the most relevant predictor of paralinguistic comprehension and paralinguistic production of emotions in communication in adults with moderate intellectual disabilities (MID). The sample included 41 adults with MID, 20–49 years of age (M = 34.34, SD = 7.809), 29 of whom had MID of unknown etiology, while 12 had Down syndrome. All participants are native speakers of Serbian. Two subscales from The Assessment Battery for Communication – Paralinguistic comprehension of emotions in communication and Paralinguistic production of emotions in communication, were used to assess the examinees from the aspect of paralinguistic comprehension and production skills. For the graduation of examinees from the aspect of assumed predictor variables, the following instruments were used: Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test was used to assess receptive language abilities, Computerized Speech Lab (“Kay Elemetrics” Corp., model 4300) was used to assess acoustic features of voice, and Raven’s Progressive Matrices were used to assess intellectual ability. Hierarchical regression analysis was applied to investigate to which extent the proposed variables present an actual predictor variables for paralinguistic comprehension and production of emotions in communication as dependent variables. The results of this analysis showed that only receptive language skills had statistically significant predictive value for paralinguistic comprehension of emotions (β = 0.468, t = 2.236, p < 0.05), while the factor related to voice frequency and interruptions, form the domain of acoustic voice characteristics, displays predictive value for paralinguistic production of emotions (β = 0.280, t = 2.076, p < 0.05). Consequently, this study, in the adult population with MID, evidenced a greater importance of voice and language in relation to intellectual abilities in understanding and producing emotions.

AB - In order to examine the differences in people suffering from depression (EG, N=18)
compared to the healthy controls (CG1, N=24) and people with the diagnosed
psychogenic voice disorder (CG2, N=9), nine acoustic features of voice were
assessed among the total of 51 participants using the MDVP software programme
(“Kay Elemetrics” Corp., model 4300). Nine acoustic parameters were analysed on
the basis of the sustained phonation of the vowel /a/. The results revealed that the
mean values of all acoustic parameters differed in the EG compared to both the
CG1 and CG2 as follows: the parameters which indicate frequency variability (Jitt,
PPQ), amplitude variability (Shim, vAm, APQ) and noise and tremor parameters
(NHR, VTI) were higher; only the parameters of fundamental frequency (F0) and
soft index phonation (SPI) were lower (F0 compared to CG1, and SPI compared to
CG1 and CG2). Only the PPQ parameter was not significant. vAm and APQ had the
highest discriminant value for depression. The acoustic features of voice, analysed
in this study with regard to the sustained phonation of a vowel, were different
and discriminant in the EG compared to CG1 and CG2. In voice analysis, the parameters vAm and APQ could potentially be the markers indicative of depression.
The results of this research point to the importance of the voice, that is, its acoustic
indicators, in recognizing depression. Important parameters that could help create a
programme for the automatic recognition of depression are those from the domain
of voice intensity variation.
9 akustičkih karakteristika glasa primenom MDVP softverskog programa (“Kay
Elemetrics” Corp., model 4300) na uzorku od 51 ispitanika. Devet akustičkih
parametara analizirano je na osnovu produženog foniranja vokala /a/. Rezultati
(Shimmer, vAm i APQ), i parametri procene šuma i tremora (NHR i VTI) imaju

FAD sadrži 60 pitanja, podeljenih u sedam skala: Rešavanje problema, Komunikacija, Uloge, Afektivna responzivnost, Afektivno uključivanje, Kontrola ponašanja i Opšte funkcionisanje.
AB - Introduction: The way people with epilepsy perceive their families plays an important role in the overall course of epilepsy.
Aim: The primary goal of the study was to examine how people with epilepsy perceive the functioning of their families. The relationship between symptom duration and family scales was examined in more detail.
Method: The sample consisted of 22 patients with epileptic seizures. To obtain the necessary data, a modified list of socio-demographic data was used, which is an integral part of the FACES IV questionnaire and the McMaster Family Assessment Device. The Family Assessment Device contains 60 questions, divided into seven scales: Problem Solving, Communication, Roles, Affective Responsibility, Affective Involvement, Behaviour Control, and General Functioning.
Results: It was found that people with epilepsy perceived family functioning as dysfunctional on the Behaviour Control dimension (M=2.08; SD=.34; cut off score=1.90). Men perceived family functioning as more dysfunctional than women in two dimensions of family functioning – Communication [t(20)=2.18; p<.05; d=.93] and Roles [t(20)=2.77, p<.05, d=1.18].Patients still living in the primary family perceived family functioning as more dysfunctional in the Communication dimension, compared to those who separated from the primary family [t(20)=2.18; p<.05; d=.93]. The results of regression analysis show that the scales Problem Solving, Affective Responsiveness and General Functioning explain 34.7% of the variance in the duration of epileptic seizures [R²=.35; F(3,18) =3.19; p<.05].
Conclusion: The research emphasizes the importance of family variables and their specificity in people with epilepsy, as well as the importance of including the whole family in the process of treating the patient.

Zaključak: Istraživanje ističe značaj porodičnih varijabli i specifičnosti istih kod osoba sa epilepsijom, kao i važnost uključivanja cele porodice u proces lečenja pacijenta., Introduction: The way people with epilepsy perceive their families plays an important role in the overall course of epilepsy.
Conclusion: The research emphasizes the importance of family variables and their specificity in people with epilepsy, as well as the importance of including the whole family in the process of treating the patient.",

AB - Previous research recognises poor parental monitoring, negative parental upbringing practices
and insecure attachment as risk factors of great importance for understanding externalising
problems in adolescence. The aim of the research is to understand the role that affective
attachment to parents plays in the interpretation of the relationship between parental monitoring
and upbringing practices with externalising problems of adolescents. A total of 507 adolescents
(209 males and 298 females), aged between 15 to 18 filled the questionnaires. Through the
use of structural equation modelling, trust in parents is revealed as important mediator with
systematic effect that deserves further attention. It is found that trust in parents, especially in
mothers, is a more potent mediator for explaining the link between positive parenting and
parental monitoring with aggressive behaviour than with rule-breaking behaviour. Results
are discussed in the light of the importance of parent-adolescent relationship for externalising
problems in adolescence.

AB - In this study, we examined the relationship between burnout at work (via the Maslach Burnout Inventory – MBI-GS) and stress (via the Parental Stress Scale – PSS) in 100 parents (50 mothers and 50 fathers) of children involved in speech-language therapy.
Respondents showed a moderate degree on the subscales Emotional Exhaustion and Cynicism, while the scale of Personal Efficiency showed a low degree of burnout to the values of the normative sample. The only significance was observed for the dimension of Emotional exhaustion with the marital status of the respondents, while other differences were not statistically significant.
The results on the Parental Stress Scale indicated that, on average, our respondents experience moderate-intensity stress. No significant association was observed between burnout at work and parental stress.

The results on the Parental Stress Scale indicated that, on average, our respondents experience moderate-intensity stress. No significant association was observed between burnout at work and parental stress.",

AB - Introduction: Considering inconsistent findings regarding the relationship between various risk factors and speech disorders, this study objective is to analyze following risk factors: long-term use of pacifier, thumb sucking, caretaker speech of parents, and average exposure to electronic media during the day, chronic otitis media, poor differentiation of oral musculature, parental speech status and their association with the occurrence and manifestation of a specific articulation disorder.
Aim: The aim of the study was to determine the extent to which various risk factors are present in children who have a specific articulation disorder.
Method: The sample consisted of a total of 100 subjects, aged five to seven, who were divided into two groups, experimental (50 subjects with specific articulation disorder) and control (50 subjects without the disorder).
The diagnosis of specific articulation disorder was made on the basis of a qualitative analysis of responses to tests of speech and language abilities, anamnestic data and additional examinations. The parents of all respondents completed a socio-demographic questionnaire that included questions about the factors listed as risky for this disorder.
Results: The use of pacifiers, thumb sucking and poor differentiation of oral musculature were shown to be significant predictors of specific articulation disorder. On the other hand, when examining the influence of electronic media exposure during the day and the manifestation of dyslalia in children and the influence of chronic otitis media on the manifestation of dyslalia, statistical significance was obtained on the whole sample, but it was not found in a subsample of children diagnosed with specific articulation disorder.
Conclusion: The results support the importance of factors such as the use of pacifier, thumb sucking, and poorly differentiated oral musculatures for the proper development of a child’s articulation. Adequate and timely informing parents about possible risk factors for dyslalia could reduce this disorder in children.

AB - In this paper, the issues of examining affective well-being in contemporary social research are presented. Affective well-being may be defined as a balance between experienced positive and negative affects. In the first part of the paper, findings on the nature of affects, their mutual association and some cognitive biases related to self assessment of affective experience are presented. Then, the most commonly used measurement methods are chronologically presented and the advantages and disadvantages of each are highlighted. These include measurement instruments containing only one or more items, instruments for measuring the intensity as well as the frequency and the duration of affective experience, instruments based on self-assessments as well as assessments of other people, and subjective as well as some objective measuring instruments. Also, some cases are presented of extensive international researches involving affective well being measurements on nationally representative samples. In the final part, some recommendations for further research as well as concluding considerations are derived.

The assessment of effects of partialling out of socially desirable responding variance on personality traits scores in instructed applicant situations

AB - The aim of this study was to examine the extent to which the socially desirable responding (SDR) distorts results of HEDONICA personality inventory (acronim based on eight dimensions of this inventory: Honesty, Disintegration, Impulsiveness, Openness, Extraversion, Neuroticism, Conscientiousness, and Agreeableness). The inventory HEDONICA was merged with components of the Balanced Inventory of Desirable Responding (BIDR) as a control inventory and was administered to a sample of 227 students under two experimental situations/ contexts, operationalized by two instructions: the standard (S) one (such as "be honest") and the "fake good" (FG) one (such as "portray yourself in a most positive way"). Comparing scores in S and FG situations by using MANOVA, a clear distortion on all personality traits in socially desirable directions were evidenced. When, however, the BIDR subscales in the FG situation were entered into MANOVA as covariates, differences between personality scores in S and FG situations were considerably reduced, and became statistically insignificant on five personality dimensions. When the variance of dimensions of the BIDR inventory was removed from the variance of HEDONICA traits in FG situation, the change between intercorrelations of personality dimensions in S and FG situations did not attain statistical significance. This lead to the conclusion that the SDR bias, if even does affect test results (i.e., enhances scores in FG situation), does not affect the scale structure and predictive validity of the examined personality inventory.

abstract = "The aim of this study was to examine the extent to which the socially desirable responding (SDR) distorts results of HEDONICA personality inventory (acronim based on eight dimensions of this inventory: Honesty, Disintegration, Impulsiveness, Openness, Extraversion, Neuroticism, Conscientiousness, and Agreeableness). This lead to the conclusion that the SDR bias, if even does affect test results (i.e., enhances scores in FG situation), does not affect the scale structure and predictive validity of the examined personality inventory., Cilj ove studije bilo je ispitivanje stepena u kom socijalno poželjno odgovaranje menja rezultate inventara ličnosti HEDONICA (akronim je zasnovan na osam dimenzija ovog inventara: Poštenje, Dezintegracija, Impulsivnost, Otvorenost, Ekstraverzija, Neuroticizam, Savesnost i Saradljivost). AB - The aim of this study was to determine the difference in establishing contacts of families with social environment of families in relation to the presence of a child with a disability in the family, as well as determining the existence of the connection between families' characteristics and levels of social contacts. The survey was conducted on a sample of 74 parents of children aged 3 to 8 years (M = 5.02). The sample was divided into two sub-samples. The first sample consisted of parents who had a child with disabilities (N = 32; 43.24%), and the second consisted of parents of children with typical development (42; 56.76%). For the assessment the social networking of the families the Personal Network Matrix (PNM, Dunst, Trivette, & Deal, 1988) was used. The obtained results show that parents of children with disabilities significantly differ from the parents of children with typical development regarding total realization of social contacts with their environment, as well as that parents of children with typical development achieve significantly more social contacts with their parents, other relatives and friends. On the other hand, parents of children with disabilities intensively engage in contact with community of health centers, social services and other agencies and institutions. The higher level of income of the parent positively correlate with frequent social contacts of families who have children with typical development. Divorces, single parenthood and extramarital relations, negatively correlate to the achievement of social contacts in the sub-sample of families with children with disabilities.

AB - The subject of this paper is stress exposure as one of the mechanisms through which the socioeconomic status may affect the health. First of all, the nature of the relationship between the socioeconomic status and the health quality, as well as possible mechanisms of relationship between them in general are presented. Then, an overview of the relationship between socioeconomic status and stress exposure is provided, as well as previous research results in this field. Finally, mechanisms by which stress exposure may affect health quality are presented. The largest number of studies indicates a positive correlation between socioeconomic position and health quality and a negative correlation between status and stress exposure, as well as health quality and stress exposure. The results regarding the relationship between socioeconomic status and stress exposure are in this respect the least consistent, mostly due to differences in the conceptualizations and operationalizations, poor representativeness of samples, and other methodological issues, as well as the characteristics of the examined populations themselves. Further, behaviors relevant to health quality, such as diet or physical activity, are to a great extent related to socioeconomic status and stress exposure. Whatever the mechanisms by which the inter- action between these variables is explained may be, the socioeconomic status is probably the key for prevention and overcoming stressful situations, and thus, for health in general.

AB - The effects of both symmetry (perceptual factor) and familiarity (cognitive factor) on facial attractiveness were investigated. From the photographs of original slightly asymmetric faces, symmetric left-left (LL) and right-right (RR) versions were generated. Familiarity was induced in the learning block using the repetitive presentation of original faces. In the test block participants rated the attractiveness of original, previously seen (familiar) faces, original, not previously seen faces, and both LL and RR versions of all faces. The analysis of variance showed main effects of symmetry. Post hoc tests revealed that asymmetric original faces were rated as more attractive than both LL and RR symmetric versions. Familiarity doesn't have a significant main effect, but the symmetry-familiarity interaction was obtained. Additional post hoc tests indicated that facial attractiveness is positively associated with natural slight asymmetry rather than with perfect symmetry. Also, unfamiliar LL symmetric versions were rated as more attractive than familiar LL versions, whereas familiar RR versions were rated as more attractive than RR unfamiliar faces. These results suggested that symmetry (perceptual factor) and familiarity (cognitive or memorial factor) play differential roles in facial attractiveness, and indicate a relatively stronger effect of the perceptual compared to the cognitive factor.

AB - Faking on Amoral dimension of the HEDONICA personality inventory was incited by the context simulation instructions: fake good (S2), fake bad (S3) and be honest (S1). Simultaneously, under instruction S1, the scores of respondents were measured on the Amoral facets of Self-concept scale (GSC), the Balanced social desirability scale (BIDR) and the cognitive tests of the fluid (IT2, ALF and RM) and the crystallized (AL4, vocabulary and GSN) intelligence, supposed (Morality), or known from the literature, as possible faking determinants. The score differences on Amoral dimension facets were calculated for S2 and for S3 situations using as a baseline the score in S1 situation. The score differences between S3 and S1 situations (abbreviated as FB) were found to be larger than the ones between S2 and S1 situations (abbreviated as FG). This result indicated that a) Amoral is susceptible to faking, and b) in S3, rather than in S2 situation, respondents displayed higher tendency of faking, or in other words, they incline to make worse rather than good presentation of themselves. The Projection facet of Amoral was most sensitive toward faking. These differences are found to be correlated with the Morality dimension of Self- concept scale and the fluid intelligence factor, but not with the dimensions of Social desirability scale in both situation for almost all faking scores on Amoral facets. Only Brutality was not related to the Morality, and Viciousness was not related to the Gf. This indicated that the dimension Morality of the Self-concept scale is far more correlated with the Amoral dimension of the HEDONICA personality scale than with the Social desirability scale.

AB - Ability to walk is one of the main motor activities that allow a man to independently
function in a social setting. The speed at which a person walks is considered the „sixth
sign of vitality“ and is a reliable and sensitive discriminating factor in the prediction
of falls in the elderly; it helps to predict the health status of an individual and possible
hospitalization and mortality.
Determining the functional abilities of the lower extremities in the elderly as a
predictor of falls in relation to the expected age and gender normative values .
In order to assess the functional abilities of the lower extremities “Time Up and Go
Test–TUGT“ was used. The sample included a total of 44 examinees, 24 were male and
20 female examinees. The examinees had between 75-85 years (77,26, SD=2,646). The
research was conducted in June 2014 in a residential care home „Bežanijska kosa“, in
Belgrade, Serbia.
The research showed that the average achievement of the examinees on the TUG test
was 17,77 seconds (SD=4,972). The examinees of the first age group had the achievement
respectively 15,96 and 17,04, while respondents of older age group had the average
achievements respectively 19,60 and 19,48 seconds. A significant effect of the age factor
was found, but no significant effect of the gender factors. Compared to the normative
values, all differences were statistically significant, which means that the examinees had
a higher achievement in all the parameters compared to the expected ones.
According to the results, our examinees belong to the category with a high risk of
falls.

AB - A healthy and functional family is not the one with no problems, but the one that
openly confronts different challenges. A family regarded a dysfunctional one is the one
not fulfilling the development tasks set out by the society. The level of success in facing
the challenges brought by having a child with disabilities depends mostly on the quality
of its members’ relationships. The aim of this research is establishing the similarities and
differences in the quality of interpersonal relationship within families with children with
disabilities and families without children with disabilities. The research was conducted
on a sample of 116 parents of children of ages between 2 and 8. The sample was divided
into two subsamples. The first one consisted of parents with children with disabilities
(44%), and the other consisted of parents with children of typical development (56%).
For assessing the quality of interpersonal relationships within family circle we used
the Family Functioning Style Scale. After applying the Mann-Whitney U-test, no
statistically significant differences in the total score on the Family Functioning Style
Scale (U=1032.000; p=0.301) have been established between the two assessed parent
groups. High average score values have been registered on the Scale as a whole in both
assessed subsamples, implying the globally high level of family cohesion. After analyzing
the separate items using the Mann-Whitney U-test, it has been registered that parents of
the children with typical development had significantly higher scores than the parents
of children with disabilities in seven items. This research has been realized as a crosssection
study, so the results provide only insight into the current way the families with
disabled children function. In the light of the obtained results it can be said that a
child’s disability is not the only, and certainly not the decisive factor contributing to the
functionality of the family or infringing it.

AB - The model of technological pragmatism assumes awareness that technological development involves both benefits and dangers. Most modern security technologies represent citizens' mass surveillance tools, which can lead to compromising a significant amount of personal data due to the lack of institutional monitoring and control. On the other hand, people are interested in improving crime control and reducing the fear of potential victimization which this framework provides as a rational justification for the apparent loss of privacy, personal rights and freedoms. Citizens' perception on the categories of security and privacy, and their balancing, can provide the necessary guidelines to regulate the application of security technologies in the actual context. The aim of this paper is to analyze the attitudes of students at the University of Belgrade (N = 269) toward the application of security technology and identification of the key dimensions. On the basis of the relevant research the authors have formed assumptions about the following dimensions: security, privacy, trust in institutions and concern about the misuse of security technology. The Prise Questionnaire on Security Technology and Privacy was used for data collection. Factor analysis abstracted eight factors which together account for 58% of variance, with the highest loading of the four factors that are identified as security, privacy, trust and concern. The authors propose a model of technological pragmatism considering security and privacy. The data also showed that students are willing to change their privacy for the purpose of improving security and vice versa.
Za potrebe prikupljanja podataka korišćen je upitnik Prise Questionnaire on Security Technology and Privacy. Rezultati istraživanja podržavaju model tehnološkog pragmatizma u tumačenju odnosa bezbednosti i privatnosti. Otkrivene korelacije između faktora bezbednost i privatnost i faktora poverenje i zloupotreba ukazuju na spremnost studenata da žrtvuju svoju privatnost u funkciji unapređivanja bezbednosnog statusa i obrnuto.

abstract = "The model of technological pragmatism assumes awareness that technological development involves both benefits and dangers. The data also showed that students are willing to change their privacy for the purpose of improving security and vice versa., Model tehnološkog pragmatizma pretpostavlja svest o tome da tehnološki razvoj sa sobom nosi brojne dobrobiti, ali i opasnosti sa druge strane.
